Most likely, the only one in your life you call “Grandpa” actually is your grandpa. But there’s a new Grandpa in town, and he’s not an old, lovable man — he’s a tiny, lovable kitten!
Grandpa was born with a cleft palate and twisted hind legs. His first owners didn’t know how to properly care for a kitten with his conditions, but wanted the little guy to live. So Stephanie Medrano, a foster parent with the Stray Cat Alliance, stepped up to give the kitten the specialized care he needs. And of course, with that white, grumpy-looking face, she had to give him the perfect name to suit his appearance.
Grandpa has had a slim chance of survival since birth, and though he’s not out of the woods yet, the care Stephanie has been giving him has helped him stay strong during his first few weeks of life. He’s fed through a tube, since he could choke if fed from a bottle. and because the tendons in his back legs are too short (which causes the twisting), Stephanie massages them every day; the hope is that with time, they’ll be long enough to allow him to move properly.
Grandpa has a long road ahead of him, but hopefully, the care and love he’s been receiving will help him live a long, happy, and healthy life!
