Pandas have a reputation for being chubby, cute, and unfortunately, endangered. But though they may seem slow and cuddly, especially compared to their more terrifying cousins, these fuzzy cuties can cause a lot of chaos in a very short amount of time. Thankfully, they’re adorable enough that it’s only kind of a problem.
This became particularly obvious a few years ago at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China, when a carer named Mei entered the enclosure of a group of panda cubs to try to rake leaves. These playful babies had other plans, though. They did everything in their power to make Mei’s job more difficult, finding immense joy in the “toys” (a.k.a. rake and basket) that she brought into their enclosure.
Needless to say, a relatively simple job quickly turned complicated, but although we feel bad that Mei had such a hard time raking leaves, we’re super jealous that her work troubles involve dragging away adorable playful baby pandas.
