Friendships can come in all shapes and sizes, and Morris and Champy know that firsthand… or firstpaw… firsthoof?
Morris, a black cat, and Champy, a horse, have known each other since Morris was taken home from a shelter about seven years ago. The two were fast friends, and soon, it became a morning ritual for them to enjoy a ride together to start the day.
Jennifer Boyle, the animals’ owner who also rescues horses, noted in a Bored Panda article that every morning, Morris wakes up and hurries outside to wait at the “bus stop” (a.k.a. a fence post) for Champy to come by. Then, Morris jumps on Champy’s back, and the two go for a ride!
This relationship is particularly special because horses have a very reactive fight-or-flight instinct. Basically, the bond that Morris and Champy have is so strong, it’s overridden Champy’s natural instinct to bolt and buck when, say, a cougar or other wild cat would jump on the back of one of his wild relatives. Thankfully, Morris isn’t a threat to this horse!
