The stakes for cakes are constantly rising, and bakers around the world are pushing themselves constantly to create cakes that defy the laws of physics, chemistry, and logic. Even in a world where hyperrealistic cakes are becoming more and more common, though, one baker’s cake is standing out for all the right reasons.

Grace, a Canadian baker who can be found on Instagram as @petrichoro, has made waves with her cake that looks just like a 3-D koi pond. Somehow, every last part of the cake is edible, but it’s almost a shame to eat it because of how beautiful it is!

Grace described the cake like this:

“A koi pond mousse cake for father’s day! ‎I’ve had this project on my to-do list for the longest time but i’ve always been too intimidated to start.. but i decided to take the plunge this week and i’m very glad i did 🙂 ‎ ‏‏I love making small and intricate things, and i had so so much fun working on the lilies and koi.” ‎

Everything on the cake is edible! (the cattail stems are little pieces of dry bamboo, and bamboo is *technically* edible, right? 😅) it was my first time working with bean paste and agar based jello so there was a lot of trial and error,, i was up til 5am but id say it was worth it.” ‏‏‎ ‎

The cake isn’t just pretty to look at, either. Grace made sure that it was made with layers and layers of deliciousness:
Agar almond jelly
Blueberry mousse
White chocolate mousse
Black sesame chiffon cake

The cute little fish were made with sweet bean paste mochi.
