When Odin Frost and Jordon Granberry were born, they had the odds stacked against them. Their parents were told that the boys only had about a 2 percent chance of survival. If they beat those odds and lived past the age of seven, they would live in a vegetative state.
Odin and Jordon found each other at age three and quickly became best friends. Odin’s dad shared a photo of the adorable pair back when they were little.
Odin’s mom experienced preeclampsia during her pregnancy, and Odin was born with a brain bleed. Jordon had a blood infection and received permanent brain damage after his brain didn’t receive enough oxygen. The young men have been almost entirely non-verbal their whole lives, but that hasn’t stopped them from forming a deep bond. According to Bored Panda, the two are protective of each other, and they laugh together as well.
Last week, the best friends achieved their latest major milestone by graduating high school together. They also proved doctors wrong by doing something they were told they’d never be able to do: walking. Jordon took his first steps shortly before turning 18, and Odin, who started walking at age five, was able to walk at graduation (though he still uses his chair for longer distances).
After a tough start, these two best buddies have a bright future ahead of them.
