Street vendors make a living off what they can carry through town on their backs, and when every piece of food or merchandise counts toward paying their bills, you can’t blame them for not wanting to give away freebies. But when one food vendor in Mexico saw two hungry dogs following him, his first thought wasn’t of money, but compassion.
The unknown man was caught on CCTV as he walked down the street of Puelba with his products hauled on his back. Though he was the only human around, he wasn’t alone — a couple of dogs were following him, hungry and hoping to have a morsel from his pack.
While no one would’ve faulted the vendor for ignoring the dogs and taking his goods home with him, that’s not what he did. Instead, he paused on his walk, opened his pack, and tossed some food to the dogs. When a third dog approached, hungry and curious, he tossed yet another piece of food to that one, too. While the money made from selling the food would’ve surely been nice, this is clearly a man who knows the value of kindness and compassion to all living beings.
The man still hasn’t been identified, and it’s clear that he wasn’t looking for fame for his kind deed. But with over four-and-a-half million views, this video is reminding people from all over the world that taking a few seconds out of your day to help those less fortunate than you is always worth it.
