“Hey There Delilah” is the Plain White T’s plucky, bittersweet single from 2005 that took the world by storm. The tune is a beloved love song, especially for long-distance couples, and while it’s a little sad — no one wants to be 1,000 miles away from their partner, after all — it’s cuter than it is melancholic.
That is, until you change the tune.
Singer Ale Madsen has rearranged the famous song so that it has the tune of Dolly Parton’s iconic song “Jolene.” It seems like an odd combination, but once you hear it, it actually makes sense. It also gives “Hey There Delilah” a more haunting, almost creepy feel, almost like Delilah is being stalked by the narrator.
