Anyone who has struggled with addiction or loved someone struggling with addiction knows the toll that drugs can take on the human body. Many addicts show the effects of their substance abuse, with sallow skin and sunken eyes, in addition to experiencing the illnesses and inner turmoil that addiction can cause.
A man named Travis shared the shocking “before” photos of his own addiction journey on Twitter, and his transformation after 745 days of sobriety from opiates and benzodiazepines is going viral after someone shared the post on Reddit.
Travis’ first picture, taken while he was still using, is heartbreaking.
After Travis became aware of his sudden Reddit fame, he chimed in on the discussion about his transformation, saying, “Hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Stayed in rehab for over a year and a half because I couldn’t trust myself.”
With a lot of hard work and dedication, though, Travis was able to quit the drugs and get his life back on track. He shared this photo after being clean for three and a half months, and the transformation was already remarkable.
He didn’t stop there, though. Travis has stayed clean for over two years now, and he’s practically unrecognizable from the first photo.
Travis’ transformation (both outside and inside) is a powerful reminder of the effects that drugs can have on people… and how people struggling with addiction can turn their lives around for the better.
We’re thrilled to see Travis thriving, and we hope that his story can give other people hope, too!
