Some gifts are so legendary, they deserve to be celebrated years after they’re given.
Such is the case for a gift given by Ryan Buchanan to his parents, who are a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Back in 2018, Ryan gave his parents an impressive gift: a portrait of Jesus, intended to go perfectly with the other religious pictures they had around the house.
Except there was something a bit off with this particular portrait.
“I’ve made a huge mistake,” said Ryan in a Reddit post. “Mom loves her Jesus Christmas present and I’m not sure how to get out of this thing alive when she figures out.”
Yep, if that particular rendition of “Jesus” looks familiar, it’s because it’s actually actor Ewan McGregor in costume as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels.
Though it’s certainly not the first time that comparisons between the actor and Jesus have been made, the fact that Ryan was able to successfully prank his parents is pretty impressive.
For anyone who doubted Ryan’s story, thinking that he’d simply hung up a picture of the actor in his own home and didn’t actually carry out the prank, fear not: he actually got the gift-giving experience on video, and you can see how appreciative his poor parents are of their gift (though his mom does seem a bit suspicious over his smiling).
Did Ryan ever come clean to his parents? We may never know.
