Leon Ford was about to become a father. Normally, this is happy time in every man’s life, but unfortunately, Leon was the tragic victim of police brutality.

His crime?

Running a red light.

The consequence?

Getting shot five times.

Unlike some victims of police brutality, Ford lived to tell about his experiences. Unfortunately, the gunshot wounds paralyzed him from the waist down.

Yet even after suffering this gross injustice, Leon is still pushing through, and he has one of the most important people in the world to help him — his son, Leon Ford Jr.

Leon Jr. may only be four years old, but not only has his father educated him about social justice, the young boy is helping his father walk again.

“Keep pushing,” he tells his father, who is struggling to move with his walker. “Keep pushing.”

This just goes to show that, with enough strength and courage, almost any tragedy can be overcome.

It also doesn’t hurt to have another strong person in your corner.
