Just as the men and women in the police force put their lives on the line to protect us every day, so do the K9 officers that work hard to do their jobs to protect the public. One dog nearly paid the ultimate price, but thankfully, he’s doing much better now.
Arlo joined the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office in Washington in 2019. Since then, he’s been an invaluable part of the force. Earlier this year, though, Arlo was shot twice in an altercation with an armed suspect. He thankfully survived the ordeal and was rushed to the vet for treatment.
Arlo received special surgery to remove the bullets and was put on plenty of pain medication to help keep him comfortable. Soon enough, he was able to rest and recover with the gifts he was sent by his loving supporters all over the country.
It was decided that Arlo had earned his retirement, and he was honored beautifully for his official send-off. As he left the hospital, his colleagues lined up to salute him for his hard work and sacrifice. And when he arrived home, he was welcomed in the most heartwarming way possible.
You can watch the video of Arlo’s hospital discharge and beautiful arrival home below. Get the tissues out — it’s a good one.
