Elephants are some of the smartest animals on the planet, and one of the qualities that makes them stand out is their empathy and emotional depth. Elephants have been known to mourn their dead, and they put a lot of effort into raising their young. Really, we humans could learn a thing or two about these amazing wild animals!
One herd of elephants at Elephant Nature Park — a rescue/sanctuary in Northern Thailand — showed their own innerspecies compassion when they found out that the Park had a new arrival: a rescued calf named Dok Geaw. At the time of his arrival about three years ago, Dok Geaw was just a year and nine months old. He was an orphan, but it looks like he found a new family in this happy herd.
