As we finish up 2020 and set our sights on our upcoming goals for 2021, many people are likely thinking about improving their health and fitness in the new year (especially after all the extra quarantine snacks). But what are your reasons for wanting to fix up your diet and hit the gym? Do you want to look good? Start a new sport or hobby? Or are your reasons a bit more personal?
A holiday ad for German pharmacy DocMorris has released an inspirational ad that explores this very topic, and be warned: by the end, you may need some tissues.
The ad features an elderly gentleman who decides to dust off an old kettlebell in his garage. It’s nearly too heavy for him to lift at all, but day after day, he gets up early and challenges himself to lift the kettlebell, even as his neighbors watch him with curiosity (and perhaps a bit of judgment). It’s clearly a draining workout, both physically and emotionally, so why would he keep going? Is it really worth the strain and stress just to put on some muscle in his old age?
As it turns out, the real motivation behind all that heavy lifting is a lot more fulfilling. We won’t spoil the ending for you, though!
In the caption accompanying the ad on YouTube, DocMorris said, “This year is the best gift of all that we are fine and healthy. That is why your health is a matter close to our heart. So that, especially at Christmas, you can take care of what really matters in life: to spend a carefree time with your family and loved ones.
DocMorris wishes you and all your relatives a happy and unforgettable celebration.
During a year when we are all just grateful to be able to spend time with our loved ones, this message hits home now more than ever.
