Among the internet’s most famous cats is Shiro — the fluffy white kitty from Japan who achieved international internet fame due to his ability to sleep basically anywhere. The world fell in love with Shiro’s easy way of living, and now, they’re mourning his loss.

Shiro (short for Shironeko, meaning “white cat”) passed away on March 3 at the ripe old age of 18. He was clearly a kitty who was spoiled with love, living his life alongside his loving humans and feline siblings.

Shiro was famous for falling asleep anytime, anywhere, with anything on his fluffy head.

Sometimes, his siblings would also wear unique “hats,” but rarely were they as eager to sleep as he was.

When you love sleep this much, having a bowl on your head is no big deal.

Shiro also fell asleep with things on his adorable little paws.

There was no headwear too elaborate to rouse this drowsy kitty.
