Brand-new vehicles are nice, don’t get us wrong, but there’s something special about knowing that the thing your driving contains the memories and experiences of the people who used it before you.
One family in Brisbane, Australia got a sweet reminder of this when they were preparing for their first trip in a used caravan they’d just bought. Kirsty Duncan shared a photo of a cute note from one of the caravan’s last (and likely youngest) occupants named Poppy, and the little girl’s innocent words have since given many people a spot of light in a difficult time.
Poppy included the note in a drawer of the caravan, and the vehicle’s new owners found and shared it. It’s since warmed thousands of hearts as it’s been shared all over the internet:
“Hi, my name is Poppy and I am 10 years old. This used to be our caravan and we travelled half of Australia in it. This was my bed (the top bunk) and it was very good. This draw[er] (which is where you found this letter) was where I kept all of my special things that I couldn’t leave behind when we went travelling. I hope that you enjoy this caravan very much. I am in grade 5 and I am very good at art. I have a message for you; Follow your dreams and if you have the choice between being right or being kind choose kind. Enjoy this caravan.”
It sounds like young Poppy has the right idea when it comes to traveling and treating people the right way! Hopefully, the caravan’s new owners can create memories that are just as special.
