Millions of pets go missing every year, and sadly, many never find their way home.
Eric and Faith Johnson of Tennessee were starting to fear that this might be the case for their own Australian shepherd, Bella, after a horrible tornado leveled their home in March, killing 24 people. The family had been woken up by their dog, who was “going completely insane,” in the early hours of the morning, and the early notification gave them the time they needed to hunker down inside their bathtub. The tornado slammed into their home, and the family was thrown “about fifty yards” while still in the tub. Miraculously, they all escaped the ordeal with non-life-threatening injuries.
The family’s home, however, was destroyed, and after the danger had passed, they couldn’t find Bella. The family searched for the pup for weeks with no luck; although she was spotted in the same area multiple times, she was never caught, and her humans were giving up on ever being able to find her again.
Just days ago, however, Bella was rescued and returned home nearly two months after the tornado had changed the family’s life forever. Check out the photos of this lucky pup and read Eric’s story about her return below:
“So something amazing happened today!!. After 54 days missing from the tornado that leveled our home on March 3rd we have been reunited with our dog Bella.”
“To say that I wasn’t starting to lose hope in ever finding her again would be a lie. Me and my wife would pray daily that god was keeping her safe out there until he brought her home to us.”
“Well today those prayers came true, at around 6 pm this evening we were able to catch Bella over off of willow in the save-A-Lot area in between a little alley way”
“This would never have been possible without the help of so many people especially Sarah Lang Romeyn without you this would have never been possible, your an amazing person.thank you so much for never losing hope on our dog Bella.”
“We are forever thankful for your help. Thank you to so many others that went out with me and looked for Bella on several occasions.”
“At the moment our miracle dog has a full belly of food and is currently sleeping in a warm bed where she belongs.”
“Once again thanks to everyone that either participated in searching for Bella or simply saying a prayer for her. We love all of y’all. What an amazing god we serve!!!”
