Perhaps one of the greatest disappointments of childhood was realizing we wouldn’t be getting a letter that would send us to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. One little girl got something almost as good for her birthday, though.
One father from London named Dylan decided to make his daughter’s most magical dreams come true by building a replica version of Diagon Alley right in her wardrobe. According to an interview Dylan did with Bored Panda, the inspiration struck him during lockdown, when he considered how to make better use of a space that wasn’t much use as a whole room, but was long enough to make something.
Dylan did an amazing job of replicating all the shops featured in Diagon Alley, and he even went above and beyond to find objects like books and quills to put in the windows.
Ella’s dad managed to keep the surprise a secret from his daughter for an impressively long time. When he was ready for her to find it, the two played a game of hide-and-seek.
Eventually, Ella decided to hide in the closet, where she found the curtain that concealed this amazing, thoughtful gift from her dad.
Ella and her dad explored the little Diagon Alley, with Ella opening the presents her dad had left her in each shop. They even used a small ice cream maker to enjoy a cool treat in the dessert shop!
Here’s a video of the special street, too! Ella will definitely treasure this special place in her home for the rest of her life.
