One of the best things about the internet is how easy it is to find DIY videos for just about everything, from watercolor painting to vehicle repair.
Rob Kenney has jumped on the how-to video train with his channel lovingly named “Dad, how do I?” The name is cute without any backstory, especially when you consider the fact that Rob is indeed a dad to two kids — it makes you feel like he’s offering you fatherly advice, too. And as it turns out, that’s exactly the point.
The wholesome instructional videos have been helping people with tasks around the house, such as unclogging drains.
As it turns out, though, the channel’s roots are even more well-intentioned than they appear at first glance. Rob was one of eight kids, and his dad walked out on them, and his mother turned to alcohol to cope with the aftermath, including the stress of having to raise so many kids on her own.
As a teen, Rob eventually moved in with his older brother and his wife, and in an interviewed with Shattered Magazine, he explained that his ultimate goal in life was to raise “good adults.” He hoped to give his own kids a better childhood than he had growing up.
Over the past couple of months, Rob has been filming practical how-to videos and offering “dadvice” to help his viewers learn skills they may not pick up in school.
The content taught in the videos is often taught by our parents, but as we know, not everyone’s parents are around or available to teach them these life skills. Rob’s videos have since gone viral as people have learned his backstory, and his wholesome lessons are finally getting the love they deserve.
Make sure you give him a follow to support this great channel! Who knows? Maybe you can pick up a few new skills yourself!
