Those who enjoy cruising around Costco and trying all the free samples are in for some tough news: the chain store is temporarily postponing sample give-outs due to the recent coronavirus outbreak.
The news has come from a comment reply on the Costco Instagram.
The Instagram account @costcodeals also claims to have heard from someone in the know who has confirmed the news:
“Just got word, one of our followers is a sample person for CDS which is Costco’s vendor who does all the food samples and looks like they will not be serving samples for the foreseeable future. Not sure if this is immediate and will effect all stores or will be a store by store basis.
😍The good side is that Costco is allowing CDS workers to work at the warehouses in various other capacities until samples start up again!! This was inevitable with the #coronavirus picking up steam in the US + the recent crazy crowds at Costco stores!“
The move was likely a wise one by the company — with disease experts reminding people to wash their hands and minimize contact with strangers, sample trays could be a harbor for disease, especially with so many people’s fingers coming into contact with the trays or even the food itself.
