You know the universal law of physics that applies to all children: if they can’t see you, you can’t see them.
Apparently, this law also applies in the elephant world, as evidenced by one very naughty baby elephant.
The elephant calf in Chiang Mai, Thailand had snuck into a farmer’s field to snack on some sugarcane. The choice was hardly an unusual one — elephants love sugarcane, and elephants living in captivity such as in zoos or sanctuaries often get plenty of the plant to snack on.
Still, this hungry baby wasn’t supposed to be eating that farmer’s sugarcane, and she knew it! When a group of locals caught her in the act, she thought quickly and devised a perfect plan. She couldn’t get in trouble if she hid. So she found the perfect hiding spot and stuck to it:
The caption of the picture shared by one of the locals read, “Keep calm. Officers will see. Let’s continue eating sugarcane,” as translated from the original Thai.
Even as the group of people started taking photos of the little trouble-maker, she stood stalk-still behind the pole, convinced that it would be enough to hide her. Personally, we think she did a great job — we can hardly see her at all!
