You normally see walruses in cold environments, such as in Greenland. But one walrus has become a familiar face in Ireland, and recently, he decided to spend some time relaxing on a boat.
Wally is originally from the arctic, but is thought to have fallen asleep on an iceberg that drifted down from Greenland. He’s been seen around other parts of Europe over the past few months, and a few days ago, Clonakilty Distillery in Ireland spotted the big fella hanging out in a docked boat.
Wally seemed to be having a nice time relaxing on the boat and enjoying the gentle rocking of the waves, and the distillery’s staff and guests were delighted to lay eyes on the unexpected visitor.
There’s no word on if or when Wally will be returned to the habitat he came from, but for now, we’re glad he can still find moments of happiness even so far away from home!
One of our team had an unexpected Artic visitor on their boat this evening. #Wallythewalrus spotted in Clonakilty today…. we reckon he must have stopped by on his travels for a refreshing Minke G&T. 😅🍸#clonakilty #wildatlanticway #purecork pic.twitter.com/zGH8vGqotB— ClonakiltyDistillery (@clondistillery) August 9, 2021
